One on One

Day 30

“For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.”

– John 3:16

John 3:16 is one of the most well known scripture verses in the world today. It is one of my personal favorites for both its powerful meaning and the manner in which it was delivered. It wasn’t taught by Jesus on a mountaintop to His disciples, or to a crowd waiting eagerly below. It wasn’t given from a boat to the multitudes gathered on the shore. It wasn’t preached to believers assembled in a church or a temple. It wasn’t even delivered to John, who was one of Jesus’ most beloved disciples and the author of the book where it is found! It was shared intimately by Jesus to a man named Nicodemus.

Nicodemus took the time and made the effort to meet with and speak to Jesus in private, at the cost of death if he were caught. We are only given a small glimpse of what was shared between these two men in conversation. Nicodemus sought understanding for the questions that were on his heart, and Jesus lovingly answered them.

God desires to have the same one on one intimate relationship with us, where He can share with us deep revelations and great truths. Are we taking the time and making an effort, like Nicodemus, to spend time with our Savior?

God desires to have the same one on one intimate relationship with us, where He can share with us deep revelations and great truths.

In this coming New Year, put aside the fleeting relationships and worthless distractions of this life and make a real connection with your Heavenly Father.

Fight the good fight of faith!
