“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”
– 1 John 2:15
“For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.”
– 1 Thessalonians 5:22
As we embark on another new year, plenty of people make New Year’s resolutions that usually last about 3-4 weeks. There are some that stick to them, but according to the facts, 80% fail by February and only 8% of people keep their resolutions… sad really. People can be just as fleeting in their relationship with God. Fire hot one day and a week later hardly doing Bible studies. I am guilty of doing this in the past, and this devotion is for me as much as it is for you!
I want to encourage you not to think of the new year as setting goals in the natural, but a full changing of your heart, soul, and mind to the things of God. This is no time to be fooling around with your Christianity and faith. The devil is in full force and wants nothing more than to take you out! It doesn’t matter how people are acting around you, one little slip up by you and you get in trouble for what other people get away with, or called a “fake Christian.” They will lose interest in what you have to say about faith.
Believe me, people are watching. I feel they are always just a conversation away from coming to church and checking things out. Now is the time to get super charged and make a difference in this world. Now is the time to save the lost. Now is the time to be the light and salt of the earth. People need God now more than ever. They are hurting and looking for the answer. Be the direction to the answer for these hurting people!
Now is the time to save the lost. Now is the time to be the light and salt of the earth.
Make a heart change today as the new year starts to get real with God, and not just make a New Year’s resolution that will fizzle away. Now is not the time to be fooling around or to be lukewarm, because the world is getting bad. Jesus is coming back soon, so don’t be left behind.
Confession for today: “God, light a fire in me that can never be extinguished, and help me to stay on fire and win the lost for Christ!”
God is good… all the time… all the time…
