“What do we do? We swim, swim, swim…”
This catchy Dory song can remind us to keep swimming upstream. Salmon swim upstream which, by definition, means against the current or toward the beginning. As you walk about your day, it can feel as if you are swimming against the current. If this is you, then as a Believer you are going in exactly the right direction and are being led by the Holy Spirit! You are headed toward your beginning, which is Jesus. He is our life source, our starting point, and our finish line!
However, as you swim upstream, you are constantly fighting against the current. Every day, you are swimming against how the world thinks and acts and how the culture is currently telling you to live your life. It is a fight upstream, but you are fully equipped to swim in this direction, just like God fully equipped the salmon to do so!!
The added bonus of you moving upstream in your living pattern is that those that live downstream from you will benefit. The things that take place in a river upstream will affect the living creatures that live downstream. You can change the environment of others by swimming upstream on a daily basis!
Do you need to change your daily swimming pattern to get out of the world’s current by swimming “upstream?”
