Be as Salt

Day 23

“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste (its strength, its quality), how can its saltiness be restored? It is not good for anything any longer but to be thrown out and trodden underfoot by men.”

– Matthew 5:13

Salt, in the natural, is used to preserve and to season. When the Bible calls us “the salt of the earth,” it is challenging us as believers to adopt these same traits and to apply them through our interactions with the world. Just as salt has an effect on everything that it comes into contact with, we as believers should be affecting change wherever we go.

We are to preserve the Truth of God’s Word as we uphold a righteous and holy standard of living in a day and age when Truth is endangered! When we choose to commit ourselves fully to God’s will and purpose for our lives, we are creating an environment which allows God’s Word to survive and thrive through us, so it can be shared to those who are lost and hungry.

…we as believers should be affecting change wherever we go.

We are to season God’s Word by enhancing its flavor to everyone we meet! When we live a joyful and passionate life focused around our love, relationship, and walk with Jesus Christ, we become living examples of how good God and His Word can taste!

The enemy would love to steal our ‘saltiness,’ our ability to preserve and to season, but we must fight to preserve the qualities that set us apart!

Fight the good fight of faith!
