This part of scripture tells us that there is a vine, a branch, and a Gardener or Vinedresser. The Vine here is Jesus , the Branch is us, and the Gardener is God the Father. Each has a part in the growing process of the fruit in our lives.
Today, let’s look at the Vine. The Vine is the source of nourishment and life for the plant. Source means the place from which something comes, or the starting point. Jesus is the Vine. He is the Source of all we need to live and thrive as we produce fruit in our lives. We take from the vine all we need in nourishment in order to grow, to develop, to produce and bear good fruit for the world to see. We take this nourishment from Jesus, our Source, as we stay connected to Him on a daily basis. We stay connected or “abide in Him” through reading His Word, learning about Him, time in prayer, and through times of worship, all of which are really a description of our daily Christian walk. This keeps us actively present in our relationship with Jesus. As you do these things, you can be confident that you are attached to the Vine, receiving all the nourishment you need for each day!
As our Source, the Vine provides everything we need to grow healthy fruit in our lives. The beautiful promise in this verse is all we need. We can take from Him and we never have to be undernourished or lacking in any area. Are you in need of wisdom or maybe in need of discernment? Do you feel like you need peace or an added amount of strength? He is our complete source for everything we need in life to survive, so receive from Him what you need to thrive!
