Such a Time as This

Day 19

“For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

– Esther 4:14

As I was praying about what to share in this next devotional, the Lord reminded me of the message I spoke on Esther two years ago.

“Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.”

– Catherine of Siena

Lately, I have thought of this message frequently as I question where I am in my life and where I am going. I was even talking to my brother one day and the words “made for such a time as this” came up again. It is an absolute truth that God knew what He was doing when He predestined us all to be born in this generation and during these times. So many factors had to work in our favor to get us all here, and God knew what we would need before we were even placed here.

I was even thinking about my brother who had to have extensive surgeries when he was born, because he was born many weeks prematurely. If he had been born in a time where there was not modern medicine and all of the advancements we take for granted today, he would never have lived. God knew that and God placed him here during this time for a specific purpose. I am sure you have stories just like this one either for yourself or your family, so you know that there is a reason why you are here right now, too.

If you are struggling with the “why” and the “what” of your future, take a step back and thank God that He knew about you before He made you, and that He made you for this time specifically. Ask Him to guide you by His Holy Spirit and begin to trust that He will make the path clear before you.

“We pray that you’ll live well for the Master, making Him proud of you as you work hard in His orchard. As you learn more and more how God works, you will learn how to do your work.”

– Colossians 1:11-12 (MSG)
