Mirror, Mirror (Part 2)

Day 16

“Now you [collectively] are Christ’s body and [individually] you are members of it, each part severally and distinct [each with his own place and function].”

– 1 Corinthians 12:27

Comparison is something that I struggled with for many years growing up. I had the understanding that I was supposed to be different from the rest of the world, but it didn’t make me feel any better when those thoughts tried to rise up in my head and tell me that I wasn’t good enough. It took a lot of prayer and confession before the Holy Spirit broke that bondage off of my life.

Years later, I found myself in a similar mindset of comparison with other believers. This was hard to identify at first, because I wasn’t looking at the world and desiring ungodly things. I was looking at the body of Christ and wishing I was where other believers were. I started listening to a lie that told me what I was doing wasn’t as important as what others were doing to serve in the house of God. I became discouraged and felt like I wasn’t making a difference. See, the enemy does not have any new tricks up his sleeve. He will try to come at you with the same thing over and over again. We need to be on guard for repeat lies and attacks of the enemy!

Take a moment right now and read 1 Corinthians 12:11-27.

It‘s very important to remember that God has a specific role for each of us to play in the body of Christ. Comparing ourselves to other parts of the body is just a strategy that the enemy uses to stop us from doing what God has called us to do.

We need to be on guard for repeat lies and attacks of the enemy!

If you feel like you don’t know where God has called you to serve, pray and ask the Holy Spirit. He has a place for you and He is just waiting to show you where.

Let your light shine,
