God’s Refreshing While We Wait
Day 26 “I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.” – Jeremiah 31:25 Additional Reading: Isaiah 40:28-31 I don’t know about you, but to me “Back to school” means back to busy.
Many times we will hear a great message that teaches us a great truth from God’s Word and we get really excited about applying that truth to our lives. We stay consistent for a while and then, little by little, we apply that truth less and less or even forgetting to do it all together. What happened? We became distracted.
Distractions are everywhere; it is one of the schemes the enemy uses to steal the Word out of our hearts. In Joshua chapter one, God gave Joshua the number one key to success as he was beginning to lead God’s people. What was the key? Focus. On what? God’s Word!
“Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.”
– Joshua 1:8 (NLT)
This one thing, meditation on God’s Word, daily and consistently, is the key to prospering and success in every area. It gives us the power to obey God and it will give us victory over the enemy. No wonder the enemy is always trying to distract us and steal it from us!
Here’s a couple of things I’ve learned to do to make sure I put God first:
– It’s the first thing I do when I wake up – I have made the decision that I will not look at my phone, eat, or watch anything until I have read my Bible first. I have literally put my Bible on top of my phone at night until I got out of the habit of looking at my phone first in the morning. When you read your Bible first, you won’t be trying to find time later in the day, where you will most likely be distracted and never get to it.
– I keep it in my sight – Proverbs 4:21 tells us not to let God’s Word out of our sight! I leave my Bible where I will see it and remember to read it. I write scriptures that encourage me on cards or make it my background on my phone so that I can keep reminding myself of God’s promises to me. I keep a notebook of scriptures I am confessing and standing on so I don’t lose sight of what God says about the things I am trusting Him for.
…meditation on God’s Word, daily and consistently, is the key to prospering and success in every area.
My life changed dramatically when I started to consistently put God’s Word first. I encourage you to start putting God’s Word first, keep focused and keep it up! It’s God’s key to success!
Be salt and light,
Miss Dawn
