The Faith Fight (Part 2)

Day 23

“The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see. The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above the crowd.”

– Hebrews 11:1-2

Hebrews 11:2 mentions that the act of faith is what set our ancestors apart from the crowd. Faith (trusting God in every situation) is the catalyst that caused our favorite Bible characters to come out on top. Faith is an action! Trusting God is a skill we can develop and use. The more time we spend with God, the easier it is to have faith in Him.

Imagine that you are a boxer in the ring during a fight. Your opponent stands ready in front of you as the bell rings, signaling the beginning of the fight. You lunge full speed at your opponent, throwing a barrage of punches for the entirety of the round. Your opponent defends almost all of the punches, and as the round ends, you each go to your separate corners. As you enter your corner, you are already exhausted after just one round. While in your corner, your coach tells you to slow down and not tire yourself out, and to remember what he taught you during your training. In the next round, you must decide to either keep doing things your own way or to follow the instructions given to you by your coach.

This is the same for us in our day to day lives! God already knows what’s coming in the next round and wants to lovingly redirect us to a more beneficial path. It is up to us to choose to either continue doing things our way, or to trust Him and follow His instructions! What path will you choose today?

The more time we spend with God, the easier it is to have faith in Him.

In what areas of your life do you feel you need to rely less on your own strategies and instead focus on God’s instructions?

Stay strong and carry on,
