Fullness of Joy

Day 21

“I have told you these things so that My joy and delight may be in you, and that your joy may be made full and complete and overflowing.

– John 15:11

Does your relationship with God bring you joy? It should, because that is part of God’s promise to us. In John 15, Jesus is telling us how important it is to stay connected to Him!

“…so that My joy and delight may be in you and that your joy may be made full and complete and overflowing.”

– John 15:11, AMP

Jesus doesn’t want us to spend time with Him because we feel an obligation to. We should want to spend time reading, praying, and worshipping God because of our love for Him and our desire for more of Him. Our daily interactions with God bring Him joy!

If we get too focused on the routine of getting up and reading a scripture, we can easily lose sight of the importance of that time. It will begin to feel like just another daily chore and we will lose sight of the joy we should be experiencing in our time with Him. If you find yourself stuck in a routine or feeling obligated, I encourage you to take a moment to reevaluate what drives you to spend time with God. Are you doing it because someone told you to? Are you just going through the motions to get it over with? Those are not good reasons for coming into the presence of God.

It may be time to hit the reset button. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you a renewed desire for time in God’s presence. Ask Him to show you what it truly means to have fullness of joy from staying connected with Him. Let Him remind you why your time with Him is so important!

Confession for today: “Lord, I want to come into Your presence because I need You. I don’t want to simply go through the motions of reading Your Word. I want to spend time with You and experience the fullness of Your joy! I want to truly experience Your best for me each day. Thank You for loving me and desiring to spend time with me. Help me to love You and desire You more and more each day.”

Find peace in His embrace,
