Don’t Just Try, Do It!

Day 18

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our Faith.”

– Hebrews 12:1-2

Many of you know that disciplining yourselves to stay away from sin is important. The Bible clearly teaches that. But do you know exactly how to do it? Maybe you have already given up or think that discipline is impossible. Are you losing one battle after another? You should know that it doesn’t have to be that way. In fact, you can’t afford to let it be that way, because it will cost you too much.

You are part of the generation that will see the miracles and wonders which the Prophets spoke about long ago. You will see the Holy Spirit moving throughout the earth. Sin hinders the flow of the Holy Spirit. Only as you rid yourself of sin will God’s power be seen through you. Then you will see and experience the wonderful things that were prophesied to take place.

So today, put your past failures behind you, making a firm decision that you won’t let sin rob you of God’s power in your life (that’s the first step). You already know the second step: spend time daily filling yourself with God’s Word. Have a desire to know God more and more. Before you know it, you will be reaching for your Bible instead of engaging in the sin you’re struggling with.

Will you put ALL sin behind you so you can move forward with Jesus?

Confession for today: Hebrews 12:1 & 2

“I will throw off everything that hinders me and the sin that so easily entangles me. I will run the race marked out for me with perseverance.”

“I will look to Jesus as He shows me the way, and I will live under the control of the Holy Spirit!”
