God’s Refreshing While We Wait
Day 26 “I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.” – Jeremiah 31:25 Additional Reading: Isaiah 40:28-31 I don’t know about you, but to me “Back to school” means back to busy.
If we look closely at the Beatitudes, we can see that they are listed in a very specific order: how a person’s spiritual growth progresses as they live a Christ-like life. “Blessed are the poor in spirit,” is the very first moment in our lives when we realize that the world has nothing to offer us and we begin to see that we are empty inside, despite all of our worldly possessions, relationships, and our status in life.
The last Beatitude is “Blessed are those who are persecuted.” We get to that point in our lives when we are living for God to such a degree that we find JOY in the persecution we face because of what we believe. The joy comes when we see past all that the world has to offer us. We are so fixed on eternity and our heavenly prize that the ridicule and abuse we face here on earth does not make us falter from running the race and fighting the good fight of faith. It is the same joy that Jesus experienced when He went to the cross for us. He found joy in His persecution and execution because He saw what was waiting for Him and all of humanity on the other side of His crucifixion.
Live each day knowing that as you serve the Lord and grow in Him, He promises us each day will start out with Him saying you are “Blessed.”
Seek Him First!
