The Choice of Peace

Day 29

“Turn away from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it.”

– PSALMS 34:14

We have all encountered moments in life that are scary. These moments may be a source of confusion, chaos, or anxiety for you. Maybe you are faced with a choice regarding your future, school, friendships, or what bag of chips to eat with lunch.  Either way, whatever choice you are facing, you have the opportunity to pursue peace!

I remember a time in my life where I had to make a conscious decision to choose peace. I was sitting in my room, my mind was racing, and I was feeling very fearful because I was facing some difficult life challenges. It was in that chaos that I heard the Holy Spirit say, “Choose peace.” In that moment, I was at a crossroad. I could listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit or I could continue to suffer through the anxiety I was experiencing.  After a short pause, I took a deep breath and said “Lord, I thank You that I am anxious for nothing and that You give me peace.” I immediately felt all the turmoil release and I was filled with God’s peace. It was something that I had never experienced before.  If I had chosen to ignore that call to pursue peace, I may not have had those feelings release.

You see, God wants us to live with peace in our hearts, BUT we must choose to allow God’s peace into our lives. In the end, I still had to face the issue before me, but I did it with the peace of God in my heart. Today, I choose peace, and the Spicy Sweet Chili Doritos to go with my lunch!

God wants us to live with peace in our hearts, BUT we must choose to allow God’s peace into our lives.

Find peace in His embrace,

Jasmine
