Right and Authority

Day 05

“…but they who seek (inquire of and require) the Lord (by right of their need and on the authority of His Word), none of them shall lack any beneficial thing.”

– Psalms 34:10

In the last few years, increasingly and with new illumination, this scripture has fortified my spiritual stance. It tells me every time I rehearse, reread and repeat it, that the Lord knows my need. Coupled with this need is a right. We can look at Hebrews 4:16, which tells us to “come fearlessly and confidently to the throne of grace… that we may find help in good time for every need – appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it.”  This shows we can be sure that the answers to every need are there. Also, despite our perspective, they are never late. We know that because of the authority of His Word, and that is just what His Word says – help in good time.

Every beneficial thing…is ours.

This scripture has also shored up my expectancy. If I know by recognizing that the authority of His Word is sovereign over the need I am in, then I am not moving into lack. The well-timed help, coming just when I need it, is bringing a fullness, an answer, that God has ordained, because He is not a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19).  Every beneficial thing – full power and readiness of speech in a tough conversation, financial increase, miraculous breakthroughs, health and wholeness – is ours.

The key is to seek (to go in search or quest of) and not passively glance (to look quickly or briefly) at the Lord and His Word. We must readily and steadily speak the Word over our need. We must camp in God’s presence as He leads us, listening to His voice.

Be blessed today as you seek the Lord based on the right of your need AND the authority of His Word!
