God As My Gardener

Day 19

“I Am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me [cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing.”

– John 15:5

Let’s talk about how the fruit of the Spirit grows in our lives.

It is the Spirit of God in us that produces these character traits, and they are found in the nature of Christ. They are byproducts of Christ’s control in our lives.  We cannot obtain them by trying to get them without His help.

God is the Gardener, but what does a gardener actually do? He puts the seed in the ground, waters the ground, weeds around the plants, and prunes the plants. Are you allowing God to do His work in your life as the gardener? Are you watering the seed that has been planted by applying the Word? Are you sitting in God’s presence, in His Son-shine? This is the only thing that will bring nutrition to our roots, causing healthy fruit to grow in our lives.

For healthy plants to grow, you need to keep the weeds out and do some pruning. Are you doing weeding in your life to take out the ungodly things in your life? Are you pruning yourself, cutting off the dead fruit and branches in your life?

It is the Spirit of God in us that produces these character traits, and they are found in the nature of Christ.

Ask yourself, “What are some traits in me that are not of the Spirit of God but rather cater to the flesh?”

The reason we have to allow God’s Spirit to be our gardener is so we can produce good fruit in our lives.

Good fruit is what other people are looking for, so when we produce good fruit it will bring others to God’s love!

Confession for today: “Lord I need You to be my spiritual gardener and show me what things in my life need to be cut away so I can allow only Your fruit to grow in my life. Use my life to allow the world to see healthy fruit grow so I can be a blessing to a world starving for the fruit a Godly life produces.”

Seek Him first!
