No Cares, No Worries

Day 08

“Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. … (verse 7)

– Philippians 4:6-7

According to Merriam-Webster, anxious is defined: “characterized by extreme uneasiness of mind or brooding fear about some contingency; worried.” Often times, when we are in a place that causes us worry or anxiety, we let our emotions take over, rather than allowing God to take over. When we choose to be anxious instead of praying, we are essentially saying that we don’t trust God to protect us, guide us, or fulfill His promises. It is important that we trust God to do what’s best for us. Here are four easy tips to help us Trust in God, even when we’re feeling anxious.

Trust in God’s understanding, not your own. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, and He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].”

Run to the throne of grace. Hebrews 4:16 says, “Therefore let us [with privilege] approach the throne of grace [that is, the throne of God’s gracious favor] with confidence and without fear, so that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find [His amazing] grace to help in time of need [an appropriate blessing, coming just at the right moment].”

Remember who God was and still is. Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is [eternally changeless, always] the same yesterday and today and forever.”

Remember the qualities of God. Micah 7:18-19 says, “Who is a God like You, who forgives wickedness and passes over the rebellious acts of the remnant of His possession? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He [constantly] delights in mercy and loving-kindness. He shall again have compassion on us; He will subdue and tread underfoot our wickedness [destroying sin’s power]. Yes, You will cast all our sins Into the depths of the sea.”

It is important that we trust God to do what’s best for us.

Confession for today: “Lord, I give you all of my cares, worries, and doubts because I know you care for me. God promises to be my perfect peace. You assure me You are constantly with me, strengthening and supporting me. I pray that God will help me to keep my eyes and focus on You, not on the circumstances surrounding me. Lord, help me choose not to worry, but instead to pray, allowing Your Spirit to guard my heart and mind in You.”
