Vessel

Day 24

“Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us.”

– Ephesians 3:20

Do you ever feel unqualified to do something, like you’re just not the right person for the job? What about in the Kingdom of God?

Sometimes as believers we may question why God is asking us to do something. Stepping out in faith and obedience to the voice of the Holy Spirit can be pretty intimidating. Even though we know the Holy Spirit is telling us to go pray for a fellow student, for example, we struggle and think ‘I just don’t think I can.’ We might feel like someone else could do it better. We need to remember that it’s God’s power working within us that enables us to be used by Him. It’s God’s power, anointing and Spirit moving through us. All He needs from us is our obedience. When you’re extremely thirsty what do you think of? Water? Gatorade? You don’t necessarily think about the glass or cup that it’s held in. However, without a cup or glass it might be hard to consume that drink. People in the world desperately need Jesus. Think of yourself as a vessel that brings Him to the lost and dying people of this world.

Take the pressure off of yourself. Doing what God is telling you to do is not a performance. Allow yourself to decrease so that He may increase in you. Rest in the fact that He promises to fill your mouth with the words He wants you to say as you’re obedient to His will, even when it feels uncomfortable. When we are weak, He is strong (2 Corinthians 12: 9-11).

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

-2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

Is there something in your life that God is asking you to do that you are hesitating on because you feel unqualified?

Confession for today: “I confess that I am qualified through Christ Jesus to do all that God is asking me to do. I will be obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit as I allow myself to be used as a vessel to bring Jesus to the people God has placed in my life. I recognize that it is the power of God working through me to carry out His purpose and do more than I could ever do on my own.”

Let your light shine,
