Knowing the Season

As we have seen the past few days, our weather has been very spring-like and warm, but do not be fooled by what it feels like this week! We’re still in the middle of winter.  For instance, Tuesday afternoon it was almost 60 degrees outside, but Tuesday night the temperature dropped down to the 20s…Burr!  Imagine if you were going to hike today and determined what you were going to wear by how it feels now. You would be in for a rude awakening when the sun goes down and the temp drops with it!  Our spiritual lives are the same way. We have to make sure we always know what season it is no matter what it feels or looks like from day to day.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-3 warns us to always make sure we are prepared for what season it is–and the season we are in right now is in the last days!  The scripture says,  “Concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that I write to you.  For you know perfectly that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.  When they say, ‘Peace and safety!’ then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor upon a woman with child, and they shall not escape.”  Don’t be caught off guard by your feelings or what is going on around you. Always be prepared for the season you are living in and know that the Lord will come for his church like a thief in the night.  Our job is to be prepared for the environment we live in by knowing what His Word says about us and then applying it to our daily lives so that we’re always prepared for the Lord’s coming.
