Recognize the Threshold

A threshold is a point at which something would happen, would cease to happen, or would take effect. We talked Friday night about the place at which the Lord has instructed you to stay. It is the place where God’s sheep live, to be fed, tended to, comforted, and protected. Staying behind this threshold brings to pass the Lord’s blessings and promises in your life. It is where His will is revealed.

Do you remember what lies beyond the threshold? Goat territory!  Our minds (2 Cor. 10:5), decisions (Col. 3:17; 1 Thes. 5:6), social situations (2 Cor. 6:17) and emotions (2 Cor. 10:12) can pull us right over into a spiritual landscape where people eat anything, fight, and isolate, and push and test fences and barriers set up for their protection. The lives of people in this area may look fun, full and rich, but these decisions are doing harm to them spiritually and moving in a direction AWAY from God. The one trait of the sheep we are called to embrace is that sheep listen to their shepherd. In a world with an “anything goes” mentality, be intentional to stay right where the Lord has instructed you to be. Phil. 4:9 tells us to practice and model what we have learned. Show others what the life of the spirit looks like. They need to see it! The only threshold we should be crossing over every day is into the Holy of Holies (1 Cor. 16:9; 1 Cor. 2:10). Participate with the Holy Spirit every day!
