“Happy is the one who finds skillful and Godly wisdom”
– Proverbs 3:13
I have found that sometimes people can struggle with how to access and obtain this kind of wisdom that the Lord defines in His Word. The second part of verse 13 tells us that we gain understanding from God’s Word and life’s experiences. Sometimes we seek out more understanding from an experience in our lives, while omitting the application of the Word to that experience.
When we bring a moment, a situation, a storm, a trial, a difficulty before the Lord and take time to allow the Holy Spirit to sift, analyze, judge and discern it (Hebrews 4:12) by His Word, the top-notch benefits are activated in our lives. The Holy Spirit discerns and judges all things (1 Corinthians 2:11). With His help, we gain the kind of understanding that Proverbs 3 talks about.
What are these benefits? Verse 16 talks about our length of days and riches and honor, and verse 17 talks about paths and highways that are pleasant and full of peace. Verse 18 talks about joy and happiness when we hold onto wisdom. Proverbs 1:5 talks about steering our course rightly. Wisdom gives us the understanding and resolve to not consent to sin (Proverbs 1:10).
Comb through Proverbs and make a list of these and so many more benefits that are for this present time and for eternity! If you are lacking a pleasant place, and find you are not peaceful, but instead feel turmoil and unrest, I encourage you to take some uninterrupted time with the Holy Spirit. He can show you, through the Word, how to understand life’s experiences, and coupled with that is peace.
Your sister in Christ,
