Stained by Sin or Washed in the Blood of Jesus

Day 27

“…This is the covenant I will make with them after time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write on their minds.’ Then he adds: ‘Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.’”

– Hebrews 10:16-17

The Bible tells us that under the Old Covenant God had with man, an animal had to be offered every year to “cover” the sins of the people.

But the great news is that our sins are not just “covered” because of what Jesus did for you on the cross of Calvary, your sins are completely wiped out and done away with.  Do you know what that means? It means they no longer exist, that there is no longer a sin problem…Jesus solved it. He no longer remembers what you did in the past. It has all been forgotten because of the cross.

When you made Jesus your Lord, He didn’t just cover your sins, He put you in right-standing with God and re-created you by the Holy Spirit, as if your sins never existed.

But if you are like many Christians, you have not fully realized what a powerful truth that is.  Instead, you keep thinking of yourself as marked by sin rather than cleansed by Jesus’ Blood.

You are not a sinner who became a Christian…you were a sinner that God changed forever and put you in right-standing with the Father when you made Jesus your Lord.  He has made you everything you are…He has re-created you in Jesus!  As far as God is concerned, your past life is forgotten.  It died on the cross with Jesus.

Think about that. Let it sink into you until you rise up and boldly receive the freedom from sin that is yours in Jesus.  Receive your rightful place with God that only Jesus can give because of His blood that was shed.

He put you in right-standing with God and re-created you by the Holy Spirit, as if your sins never existed.

Confession for today: “Jesus became sin for me. Now I have been made right with God through Jesus” (2 Corinthians 5:21).  Thank you Lord that because of your Blood I can come boldly to the throne of Grace for confession and forgiveness of sins and Your Blood washes me clean.”

Note: The Apostle Paul said, “We also believe and therefore speak” (2 Corinthians 4:13). Our words, as faith filled believers when we pray, are the applying force behind our powerful weapons of war!”
