You Are a Masterpiece

Day 19

“For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].”

– Ephesians 2:10

Have you ever thought about what you would feel like if you fully realized that you are God’s master work? How would you feel about your appearance? What would you think about your talents and skills? Would you feel limited by your circumstance? My guess is that if we fully grasped what it means to be a work of art, then we wouldn’t struggle with self-image, confidence, or our purpose.

Joe has spent some time in the arts, shocking right? After a paint night date with me, he realized he loved creating something on a blank canvas with paint. We bought him paints and canvases and stuck him in the back of our basement to create. I was actually quite shocked at what came of his efforts. He has a very abstract method and loves using mixed media and varying colors. He did some replicating when he saw a piece of art that he liked, and he knocked those out of the park too. But most importantly, in each artwork he created he felt such a sense of pride and connection to his work. He has made some for family members, but when asked if he would sell his work, he is hesitant because they are his.

God feels the same way about us. He loves us, is proud of us, and He is connected to us. God does not want us to fall into the hands of the enemy and so, as this scripture describes, when we are reborn, God prepares paths for us that allow us to live the good life that He has prearranged for us.

If nothing else, meditate on God’s promise to lay before you paths you need to take and meditate on the reality that you are a work of art created by God’s hands and that you are special!

Meditate – Take a moment to think about yourself through the eyes of God and think of yourself as a work of art

What do you see?

What is the most special thing about you?

Believing with you,

Yvonne
